WINNIPEG , FRID cor ALICIA'S ADIEU : Petite ballerina Alicia Markova bid a temporary goodbye to members of the Royal Win nipeg Ballet Thursday night when she wound up a three day engagement with the company . She rejoins them next month in Washington . Caught backstage after her final performance were , from left , Eva Von Gencsy , Betty Farrally , Jean Stoneham , Miss Markova , Josephine Andrews , Carlu Carter , Paddy McIntyre and Marina Katronis . Bombers and Ballet , They're Both Worthy are Football , ice hockey and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet . They all came in for remarks : Thursday night when famed English ballerina Alicia Markova bade adieu to the Ballet , temporarily , with her performance of the Dying Swan . Miss Markova gave a call to Winnipeg citizens to get behind the ballet company and give them the same support that is given football and hockey in this town . ( Your dancers young and willing to work . Winnipeg should get behind them and give full supoprt . It's not en ough that you've got the tal ent here . It must be support ed .. You should be just as proud of your ballet as you are of your Blue Bombers , " the petite ballerina said . Miss Markova danced the lead ing role in Les Sylphides three successive evenings , with support of the Royal Ballet members , “ It gave me great pleasure to coach them , " Miss Markova said . You have some very talented young dancers in the ballet . They were very receptive . Their work was wonderful from the short time of two days in which I coached them . " Performance Good Miss Markova did not see com plete performances of the ballets performed during the three day schedule , but witnessed ** The Shooting of Dan McGrew " from the wings Wednesday night . She was delighted with the bal let . “ You have to have contrasts in repertoire , ” she said . Miss Markova left Winnipeg by plane this afternoon for New York , where she is scheduled to make two more appearances with the Metropolitan Opera in Die Fleder maus , before departure for Lon don .
