Mr. Spohr's choreography does nothing to add to an understanding of what Cesar Franck the com poser intended to convey and the miming is often downright silly . NOT INSPIRED Under the circumstances there is nothing much to be said about the way the work was danced . The company was plainly not inspired . Principal roles were taken by Miss Von Gencsy , Miss Stoneham , Carlu Carter and Gordon Wales . The orchestra played excellently however . Faced with the difficult task of adapting the Franck work to small orchestra , Mr. Wild has wisely given the piano the lion's share , but has backed it with some very imaginative touches . Edward Lincoln played the solo part with soaring tone , building the music to broad and imposing proportions . Miss McKenzie's return to the ballet came at the end of a long evening but she and the company lifted Chapter 13 to a high level of enjoyment . It was danced with great gusto and style by all con cerned . The evening opened with a per formance of the second act of Swan Lake as restaged by Eric Hyrst . What Mr. Hyrst has done is to prune the dated mime and take away some of the deadly corps de ballet routines . It is a great improvement and the per formance is far ahead of what the company has done in the past . The corps de ballet was smooth and persuasive and a bow is extended to the cygnets Carlu Carter , a -
