REST OF PROGRAM The rest of the program includ ed a first - time performance by the company of the complete second act of Swan Lake and the Pas de Deux from Don Quixote , as well as Arnold Spohr's Intermede Gweneth Lloyd's Shadow on the a Prairie . Paddy was always a superb dancer and now he is a super lative one . The red corpuscles of vitality still surge through every thing he does , and he has added a litheness and an authority that I have put him in a class all by him self . I Paddy dances with every muscle in his body , it seems , and they are all elastic servants of a quicksilver N technique . The two brief numbers ju he did were choreographed for h Frankie Laine's London television ti show were danced to One For My ir Baby And One For The Road , and Jezebel . In the first he was assist li ed by Eva von Gencsy and was hin joined for the second by Miss 1 von Gencsy and Sheilagh Hender opi son . tha MATCHED VOCAL STYLE to Both were characterized by an CO ] acrobatic , animal vitality , but they ME were saved from being mere stunts by their aptness and the way in ta : which they exactly matched Laine's te . ecstatic style of vocal delivery . As choreography , One For My Baby was much the best . However , Jeze bel , in which Paddy was partnered iby two she - devils , gave Paddy a wi chance for some electrifying flights in into dancing fancy . Yo The way Miss von Gencsy , on comparatively short notice , part nered him in One For My Baby , was a tribute both to her skill and her flair for sensuous grace . They were all too brief , however , and they made you long for a more extended vehicle for Paddy , both as a dancer and as a choreograph er The Don Quixote Pas de Deux was another exciting item on the program , Carlu Carter and Bill McGrath went through the fright eningly difficult technical meas ures with a great deal of aplomb and carried it off with just the touch of grand manner . Miss Car ter's lightness , sense of style and N bravura were employed to excel lent effect . Bill McGrath is a good IN dancer who is getting better all the Ar time , and they make a fine team . 11 LACK - LUSTRE QUALITY The company , usually note worthy in the matter of ensemble , failed to come up to the second act of Swan Lake . The corps de ballet was ragged , and there was a cur iously lack - lustre quality about the whole performance . Miss von Gen csy seemed nervous and war far from her usual standard , and Mr. Spohr lacked the necessary spark . Perhaps the story will be different when they repeat it Wednesday night . Orchestrally , it was also in different . Elsewhere , however , the players , under the direction of Eric Wild , did some fine work , particu- m larly in Intermede . Intermede , despite decor and cos- Sc tumes that are at complete var iance with the Spohr decor and the ас C ) a Bi sy er
