2 Right now , I am busy putting together an exhibition on Maud Allan , based entirely on my personal material and research . This exhibition will open at the Cultural Centre here , attached to this College , at the end of February , and I am hoping it might " travel " at least through Alberta . Since the facilities and expertise of the Department of Art of this College has been put at my disposal , I am confident that the exhibit will be most professionally mounted . The material I have is , of course , unique . My ultimate purpose is to . ' promote " Maud Allan , both as a Canadian and as an artist since at present she is either confused with Maud Adams the actres , dismissed as Isadora's imitator , or , more usually , completely unknown . I do hope that I might be invited out some time next term . Incidentally , it would be in the interest of all concerned to start organizing such a visit as soon as possible because it may take some time to " raise " funding for the air fare . It is unlikely this College would contribute to this expense as this is my first year as a Sessional Lecturer and I am not , generally speaking , eligible for such support . However , if the itinerary is " impressive " enough , miracles can or sometimes do happen- and if they don't happen here , there's the possibility that they could happen in Edmonton . I would be happy enough to . stay in University quarters , and only ask for a reasonable , modest , honorarium . I would appreciate your pursuing this matter at your convenience- probably after the Christmas vacation , I suppose , which is why you may as well address any reply to this address , rather than to my home in Edmonton , where I will be for two weeks or so . I am , incidentally , expecting to deliver a paper at the Annual Meeting of the Dance Historians ' Society in Alberqueque , New Mexico . I was asked to send them a paper on Maud Allan's Tour of India / Australia , about which nothing is generally known . Whereas Mrs. Durrant , in her letters to Maud in Berlin , refers to receiving letters within three weeks , it seems to take that long for anything to get to South Carolina from here ! So much for Progress - and Canada Post ! Yours sincerely , Thello Cherming Felix Chemiavsky PhD
