Toronto , Ontario MAY 2017 Telephone Facsimile i all fivest ) : ( 416 ) 967 - : FACSIMILE / MESSAGE TELÉCOPIE Lawrence and Miriam Adams , Directors DANCE COLLECTION DANSE Fax Télécopieur ( 16 365 3169 From De Daniel Ladell January 6 , 1997 2 ( including this one / incluant celle - ci ) Message Dear Lawrence TOMS My apologies for not sending this earlier -- ny understanding was that while you needed the evaluation done before the end of the vear , there was no furry for you to actually receive it until the New Year Here is my evaluation for the costume worn by Maude Van as Salome Please have a look at it and let me know if it is sufficient for your purposes . If so I'll print and mail out a hard copy to you . Also , as discussed during my viewing . Tam ver concerned about the past and continuing deterioration of this and our other costurne holdings . In my epinion , you have some very unique and irreplaceable pieces of our Canadian theatrical heritage , and I strongly recommend that you take steps for their immediate archival conservation and consider their eventual museological restoration I recognize that this could be costly One institution loan think of that might be interested in helping is the McCord Museum in Montreal , which has a very strony interest in preserving and exhibiting costumes . Perhaps in exchange for your letting them show this and maybe the other costumes as well they would undertake their restoration and provide the physical means for their storage . They would also be very worthwhile considering as a residual custodian for the costumes themselves . My contact there lo 15 years ago used to be Delphine Bourdius . You might want to investigate the same sort of arrangement with the Museum of Civilization or the Roval Ontario Museum Just a thought . I'll look forward to hearing from you about the evaluation With thanks and best wishes Daniel Ladell
