Clifford Collier Apt 402 100 Maitland Street Toronto , Ontario M4Y 1E2 September 10 , 1990 Felix Cherniavsky Department of English Keyano College 8115 Franklin Avenue Fort McMurray , Alberta T9H 2H7 Dear Mr. Cherniavsky : As we have not corresponded for some time , I was quite surprised to receive your letter of August 29th , sent in care of the Dance In Canada Association . In fact , I am somewhat confused with it as you suggest that I , personally , or Dance in Canada , through me , should send you a Letter of Intent to publish your revised manuscript to assist you in receiving an Arts " B " grant from the Canada Council . You also suggest that this has been discussed or written about before , through your agent , Jo Anne Kellock , although I have not received any correspondence or telephone communication myself , or received anything through the Dance in Canada office until receiving this letter . As an individual with no publication connections , I cannot give you such a Letter of Intent , personally . If this letter is just a letter from an individual in the dance community who thinks that the material should be published because of its interest to the Canadian dance community and as a piece of Canadian social history , then I am more than willing to send you such a letter . However , if it is to suggest that I will undertake to publish the work , then this is not possible . The same , I should think , would apply to the Dance in Canada Association , although I cannot speak definitely for them as I have no connections with the organization other than as a general member . I no longer serve on the Board and no longer assist with the newsletter and magazine . In fact , the Association is on the verge of bankruptcy and is attempting to reformulate itself . The Dance in Canada Magazine has been suspended for the time being until such a reformulation is complete and new monies can be found to begin printing again . As to publishing individual manuscripts , while the mandate of the organization does not preclude this , the financial situation certainly would . In answer to your question concerning the honorarium , I would certainly think that one in the area of $ 400 - $ 500 would be
