8919 146th Street Edmonton AB . T5R OV7 July 12 1991 Dear Lawrence , Thank you for the printout text , which I will work over while you are in Winnipeg . It seems wonderfully free of typos . However , there is one very serious defect that must be attended to , and that is the total absence of any underlining , as per my original typescript . That is to say , all titles of newspapers , musical compositions etc. , must be underlined . In the material I return to you , I will not indicate these underlinings as I think this would just become messy and , knowing how difficult it is to proof read one's own work , it may also be inaccurate . All you have to do is to follow the original typescript markings in this regard . To the best of my knowledge , all the requisite underlinings are in my original typescript . A skilled proof reader would catch any oversights in this regard . ( sometimes ) You will notice in that typescript that I have used quotes when referring to particular works in the commentary . These quotes , except for the occasional one , are missing from the print - out . In the published The Salome Dancer , you will notice that rather than using quotes , M and s . have italicised all titles of compositions . Since I assume this approach [ i.e. italics ] would be impracticable on a laser disc , I suggest that all the relevant material ( newspaper titles , book titles , compositions , etc. ) be underlined , and all quotation marks of this kind in my original typescript be replaced with underlining . I also request that in the final version each section of my original typescript be clearly delineated - at least with a double space between each section , if not with a new ' page ' for each section so that if a scholar wishes to print out one or more section , each section would start on a new page . As the printout reads at present , there is absolutely no delineation between sections ; simply from a scholar's viewpoint and usage , I really don't think such a set - up conducive to or facilitates scholarly research .
