. PERFECT - PErective , LAWYER 8919 146th Street Edmonton AB TER OV7 June 29 1994 - Dear Laurence This morning I mailed you a well filled envelope of press and other clippings from my Maud Allan research . i've been clearing out my " binders " and thought that I may as well send you the extracted material . If the material is of little relevance to your archives , I am sure you will know best how or where to dispose of it . I still think that her ' art ' lay in her ' classical ' dance interpretations far more than in the Salome affair , a pyrotechnical tour de force that , though it brought her fame and fortune , was , artistically , her nemesis . That , certainly was my aunt's viewpoint . On the other hand , why doesn't some dance researcher explore the entire Salome phenomenon ? It , surely , has some cultural significance , reflects the ' decadents ' as well as any produce of the period - with Maud's performance the most effective - and the last , too . Then there are the five or more film productions on the Salome theme . Of course Maud Allan deserves more attention ( if not respect ) than the dance community gives her , albeit she left no tangible evidence of her ' art . ' She certainly was far more gifted than Isadora Duncan , her gifts were recognized and , what is more , widely admired , by her musical peers who , one suspects , only deplored what she was doing with her gifts . Then there's the whole question of the effect of private personal pain on the creative process . Anyway , the envelope I sent you this a.m. may be useful to Stacey and / or others . If it is not , I won't be dismayed . I'll draw up the list of would be MA researchers I know of before too long . I think a complete list is a bright idea ; I just hope " her time will come " before my number is up !!! . All the best bryonnect & Mirian am afe Jele The envelope went by ordenen maul You might ger it by Rufust !
