( If you have not already done so . ) The gist of my discussion with Brygida is that the Salome pose / sketch of " MA als Salome , " Vienna Tageblatt 1906 , is of maud and maud alone . Brygida believes it is of Lile Marberg , and related to her stage performance of 1903 ( see below ) . I have pointed out that the pose is surely more that of a dancer than of an actress . So you see the importance of that page from the Jottings ! Brygida and I have been enjoyably engaged in this lively piece of research for some time and IF it can be settled in favour of Maud , her stock might be an attractive ' futures ' ! The only fact is that Lili Marberg played the role of Salome already in December 1903 and it stayed in the repertory of the Münchner Schauspielhaus for 5 years according to Mrs. Gross - Roath . Maud Allan premiered The Vision of Salome in November 1906 - three years later . I don't think that Maud copied from Lili Marberg or vice versa , its just not possible . Maud Allans Vision of Salome is her very original interpretation that was absolutely unique . There is no doubt at all . Regarding my research I just have to consider all the possibilities concering the question who posed for Franz von Stuck's Salome . Mrs. Gross - Roath isn't a dance expert and she probably doesn't know Maud Allan . So far she isn't mentioning her in the book . The photographs that Franz von Stuck or his wife Mary took are showing very probably Lili Marberg . On the other hand Mrs Gross - Roath comes to the conlusion and so I do that it's very unlikely that Stuck used these photographs for his paintings . It would be now very interesting to find out why the drawing ( after Schmutzlers painting ) has been published with the name of Maud Allan in the Illustrirtes Extrablatt . You will see when you get the a Printed for Dance Collection Danse < dancecol@web.net > 1
