TO GIVE “ SALOME PARTY . " | Ny Tunes ang 26 1908 P7 : 2 Gertrude Hoffmann to Dance for Socl . ety on C. L. Waterbury's Lawn . Gertrude Hoffmann will appear in her dances hit the country home of C. Living ston Waterbury , in Pelham Bay , on Sept. 1 on the occasion of a " Salome party given to mark the close of the Summer season . The engagement is cited as possi bly marking the beginning of an inclina tion of society to take up the fad of pri vate performances by popular dancers , as they are given in England . It is the first Salome party " to be given in this country . The entire production , as glven at Ham merstein's Roof Garden , will be trans ferred to the lawn of Mr. Waterbury's estate , which is to be transformed to represent he ground of King Herod's palace . The six pyramids will be erected at the bottom of the steps that lead up to a Colonial porch , and between them , the scene Illuminated by torches held by guards dressed in the costume of the per tod . Mies Hoffmann will give her dance . The music will be furnished by the entire orchestra of thirty - six musicians , who will be concealed in the trees . a
