TE ? TOAT June 9th , 1939 / Friday Morning -12 ocbock noon . Dear Maudie I'm writing this just to give you a thrill - It is twelve oclock on Friday noon noon - and I'm going to post this before two - thirty and it will be delivered to you in three days time - You should have it on Monday - I'm sending it by the clipper service - now write at once and tell me if yoy get it then - Il not I'll ask the governsent for my thirtycents back ! There is a nice long letter in the post to you by air mail from here to New York - you will get it next week but I only now learned about this post so thought I must send it to you for the thrill of it - Will you give the stapp - perhaps the envelope as well to Jimmy Andrews for his stamp collection It is not a special stamp those are not issued yet - it is & thirty cent air mail stamp - but as the denomination is a not the regular postage , the stamps are not so common thought / I think have no particular value , but I think Jimmy would like it . GE I haven't any particular news - spent yesterday with Maurine trimning her baby basinette - we made a blue ta fetta underskirt for it , from the top of the basinette , hanging to the floor - then an overskirt over it of fully gathered spotted net - and a great smashing blue bow on the top of the canopy it looks awafully sweet - but if he isn't a boy with all that blue ! a Last night the Writer's Worshop which I joined this spring toted on all the plays , written by members , which hase been read this year -one act plays and radio plays . Last week I submitted the first act of my new play , which is fairly eposodic and could just get under the line as a one act play - though it is impdoperly constructed as a one act play for it is only the first act of a three act play - I subitted it as I wanted to EXİ * xx hear it read by a cast -and it was read last week - ( Different members of the workshop read the different parts from the scripts no preperation ) - but it gives you a good idea of how it will play ) Well , to my surprise it got the next to the highest vote for the whole year - there was one vote more for the next highest - three are about thirty members - Now it has gone with four others to a committee outside of the worshop for final judgement - There is a small money prize if one wins • and the plays is put on in a rough sort of fashion - no scenery and the parts are not nemporized - but it is a sort of gala I don't believe mine stands a chance with the committee , as it really isn't a one act play gnly an act out of a play - but I - I was thrilled to know that it was so well thought of - One of the members this morning who wasn't there last night said " Vell , if I had been there it would have been a tie - for I think your - play is the finest work thad has been submitted this year . " Well , I've got two more acts to write yet and we will see what I do with it - liaybe it will be the pot of Gold at the end of the rainbow -
