A truly artis tic treat was provided . The dual arts of music and dancing certainly give & more comprehensive interpretation than can be achiered by one form of expression , and on Saturday these arts were most bappily blended . There was not a jarring note throughout the evening , and the artists ' power of expression met with due apprera tion . The most enthusiastic member of the audience wax , perhaps , Madame Melba , and certainly no frater compliment be paid a great artist than the demonstration of true appreciation by acother . Mus Allan began her brief return season with a num ber of the dances with which she opened at the king's Theatre last winter , and the wolection gave full scope for an adequate deplay of her art . Miss Allan aims at an expression in visible motion of those feel ings which inspired manica compositions , and her dancing 24 in the highest degre symbolie . She not only dance and por tures , but gives facial expression in accord ance with the emotional colouring of the MISIC . Miss Allan berri with the Pers Gynt " ruite , op . 46,0f Gneg , the movements being " Morning , " " Anitra's Dance , " " The Death of Ase , and “ The Dance of the Gnomes in the Hall of the Mountain hing . ' Thræ dance poems of Chopin followed , with Mendelsohn * " Spring Song " as an extra Tbe Blue Danube Value of Straus formed the final programme item , but this dance was greeted with even greater favour than those which had preorded it , and Miss Allan was obliged to add " The Barcarolle " frora " Taks of Hoffmann , " " Moment Musical " ( Schubert ) , Valse in A flat " : ( Brahms ) . Excellent lighting effects were provided The Cheruiavsky brothers were also re cerred with considerable amount of faveur , and each had to respond to an en core . In the violin concerto in G minor ( Mas Brxch ) , Mr. Leo Chermavsky gase evidence of his remarkable technique and power of expression , and a little gem , “ Bet eenuse " ( Townshend ) was the encore num ber . At the pianoforte Mr. Jan Chet . niavxky Kare as bracketed numbers Cho pin's Nocturne in D fiat , " " Study . " and Polopain in A flat . " If the Polonaise was a httle below the usual mark , an additional Chopin number , Prelude in F " made the performance highly satisfactory . In bas ' cello solo , “ Souvenir de Spa " ( Servais ) . Mr. Mischel Cherniarsky showed great technical ability , and Schubert's " Slumber Song " was given with beautiful expression The three brothers also played splendidly together in a Tschaikowsky trio . Mr Frank St. Leger was an able accompanist for tbe soloists , and his accompaniment to Mr. Leo Cherniavsky was especially noteworthy .
