At the Sudbury recital of 1957, Nancy’s Advanced students presented a work titled “The Sorcerer”. Standing at the back as the Sorcerer is Tini Pel. Pel would continue Nancy’s work founding the Sudbury Arts Guild and the Nickel Belt Ballet Company.

These are all in a subfolder marked “Teaching Notes, Sudbury and Garson, 1955-1957”. Some of them were written or typed on the backs of recycled paper but if the information on the back was career related, I scanned both sides. That’s why you will see numbers with a and b on them and yet the scans will seem unrelated.

Local 598 of the I. U M. M. & S. W is very proud of the achievements of the Mine - Mill Dance School . We in the Union are always ready to provide opportunities to our members and their families to develop a variety of interests and skills and thus make a contribution to the life of our City and the District . We feel that in the relatively short time of less than two years much has been achieved in this direction by the Dance School . We were fortunate in having the services during that time of Nancy Lima Dent , Director of the Dance School , who , to gether with Weir Reid , Recreation Director of the Union , and Norman Jaques , Financial Secretary of Local 598 , pioneered in developing this project . We are sorry to lose the services of our Dance Director but are hopeful that with a new Director , the assistance of some of our talented dancers , and with your continued support and co - operation we can look forward to the expansion of our Dance School and to greater achievements in the years to come .
